An exceptional example of a tribal dowry box made for a wealthy Thakur's (landowner) daughter on the occasion of her marriage.  The dowry box would have been commissioned to contain jewellery and money offered at the marriage to the groom's family.  The box is decorated with carvings of peacocks representing love and Hanuman the monkey god representing loyalty and bravery.
